"Gerard, honey, wake up. It's time for school." Gerard's mother's voice rang through the Way household as the clock hit 7:30am, dot on. "And wake your brother up aswell."

Gerard moaned as he rolled out of his bed, fighting to untangle himself from the web of blankets. After a minute or so of doing this, he finally got up and trudged to his brothers room, next to his own.

"Mikey! Get up you lazy little unicorn lover!" Gerard teased his brother as he jumped onto him, poking his head lightly.

"Gee...get off of me..I'm tired." Mikey's dreary voice was muffled through a blanket. Gerard didn't listen, and began to jump on him-until he was shoved off by the 11-year-old, that was Mikey.

"Ow...fine. I was only waking ya' up like mom told me to." Gerard huffed playfully, sticking his tongue out, then ran off downstairs to get his breakfast. Halfway down the stairs, he squealed as he recognised the smell of waffles.

"Yay! Mom, we got waffles?!" he called out excitedly as he jumped off the last stair and spun round the corner, heading towards the kitchen.

"Yep, so hurry up and grab some, or else you'll be late for the bus." His mother replied cheerily. "Is Mikey up? That boy could sleep through a hurricane, and still wouldn't wake up." She joked.

Gerard nodded, his mouth full of waffles and syrup. At the sound of Mikey walking down the stairs, Gerard quickly grabbed the plate that Mikey's waffles were on, and used the syrup to draw a little smiley face on the top waffle.

He placed the plate back where it was and watched as Mikey gave his waffles an odd look, then smirked up at Gerard.

"You did it, didn't you." Mikey questioned, the smirk clear on his face.

"Sure did, waffle loving unicorn boy." Gerard said playfully.
He took the last chunk of waffle on his fork and ate it quickly, leaving a little peice of paper for his mother next to the clear plate, with the messy words saying ' Thanks for the delicious waffles mom. Love you.'

Gerard ran off up the stairs to his room, closing the door behind him and locking it. He hated it when people walked in on him getting dressed, especially now that he was 14. He approached his closet and opened the door to reveal a mass of black t-shirts and trousers.
He didn't really like any other colour. Black was a neutral colour to him, it didn't show any emotion, and so he couldn't be criticised. But he was anyway.
'Goth, Emo, Weirdo or Dead-Boy' were the usual names that Gerard came under.
He didn't care though. None of them meant anything to him. Just labels.

"Gee, can I borrow a wristband? I can't find any of mine." Mikey called through the door. Gerard picked up a small, table-sized basket of variously coloured and patterned wristbands and walked to the door, unlocking it and opening it to face Mikey.

"Take any one you want. Just make sure you don't lose it, make it dirty or break it. Kay?" He told Mikey as he lowered the basket so that Mikey could pick one out.

Mikey picked out a red and black checkered one, thanking Gerard before running off back to his room. Gerard shut and locked the door once more, turning and placing the basket back on his desk. He sighed and moved back to his closet to pick out his attire for the day.

'Hmm...I think a loose band tee and a pair of jeans will do today.'
Gerard thought to himself as he picked out each item of clothing. Once dressed, he picked up his old, scuffed army boots and headed downstairs.

"Have you got your bag Gerard?" His mom quizzed him, whilst he was putting his boots on. He nodded and pointed to the space next to him where, indeed, a bag lay. "Ok then, see you tonight. I've left dinner instructions on the side, and I'll be home around 10pm, Ok?"

"Ok mom. Tell Mikey to hurry up, we're gonna miss the bus." Gerard  said as he stood up, his bag soon coming up over his shoulder.
The woman called up the stairs at her younger son, the boy quickly running down the stairs to stand next to Gerard as they both exited the house.

A small boy sat in the back of his mother's car, a worried expression on his face. It was his first day in a new school, and he still didn't know the area too well.

"Mom, do I have to start today...can't I start next week?" He pleaded to his mom. She ignored his pleading voice and kept concentrated on the road.

"No. You're starting today, and that is final. Now, I'm trying drive, so could you please be quiet for mommy?" The last part was rhetorical, and sounded bitter in Frank's young ears. He was only nine, how was he supposed to keep quiet?

"Ok...sorry mom." He said quietly and slumped down in his seat in the car, clutching his bag like it was the most precious thing to him ever.

A paper plane flew past Gerard's face as he lazily stared out of the school bus window, ready to endure another boring day.
Before he knew it, he had begun to think about whether life was worth it, for all the bad things that happen. But he was soon jolted out of his thoughts as a paper plane hit him square in the eye.

"Shit! Ow! For fuck sake, can't you just leave me alone?!" He turned to look at a group of boys, commonly know as bullies in the school, as they were laughing uncontrolably at what had happened. Then one moved to the empty seat next to Gerard and grabbed his neck roughly.

"You talkin' back to us Gee-tard?" He threatened. Gerard felt the grip around his neck become tighter as he shook his head, a desperate attempt to get the boy to let go.
For what he thought would be fun, the boy tightened his grip so that Gerard couldn't breathe. At this Gerard frantically scrambled his hands around until the boy let go and moved back to his own seat, in a laughing fit. Gerard coughed some before glaring at the boys and looked away, trying to hide the tears welling up in his eyes.

The bus stopped a few meters away from the school, as usual. And like any other day, the kids pushed and shoved to get off the bus. When Gerard finally got off, he waited for Mikey. Once the two brothers found eachother, they began to walk to the entrance of their school.

"Gee...you ok? Only, I saw what happened on the bus.." Mikey asked his brother quietly. Gerard looked at Mikey for a moment, then carried on walking.

"Yeah. I'm fine. They do that all time, so I guess I'm used to it." Gerard lied. He wasn't ok. He'd had enough of all this torment. He just wanted it to stop.

"Well, Mr. Iero, your first class is math, in room 4B. I'll show you there." A teacher told Frank as he began to follow the female teacher.
He didn't want to be here. He'd rather be in his own world, where no one would tease him about how short he was, or how shy he was. His own mother didn't even care about him.
She was more concerned about her work. Sometimes he even wondered if she really wanted him, but he usually dismissed those kind of thoughts and put on a smile for everyone.

"Ok, well this is your class, just go to the teacher and tell them you're new. Bye" With a small wave, the woman walked off and left Frank to introduce himself.

Opening the door, he saw all heads turn to him, and he felt the heat rush to his cheeks in an instant blush.

"Um...I-I'm new h-here..." He stumbled on his words shyly, as he heard a few giggles come from the other kids in the classroom.

"Oh, yes, you must be Frank? Come in, your desk is at the back, there" His teacher finished off by pointing a rusty old desk at the back of the room.
Frank slowly shuffled towards it, when he felt a foot shoot out infront of him, causing him to tumble forwards and land on his chin, scraping it on the carpet at the same time

The teacher shot up out of his chair and rushed to the small boy, picking him up and wincing a bit.

"Ooh, you've got a nasty scrape on your chin, I think you need to go to the nurse." He announced to Frank, walking him to the teachers desk where Frank was given a hall pass, and directions to the nurses office.

His first day, his first ten minutes in class, and already Frank had been injured deliberately by another child.

"Oi! Gee-tard" At the mention of his unwanted nickname, Gerard spun round to face the boy who had called him, only to be punched in the eye and knocked off of his seat.

"Oh my god, Gerard! Are you ok??" A girl rushed over from her own desk.
Lindsay was her name, but she liked to be known as 'Lyn-Z'.

"Yeah, I'm fine, just go away." Gerard hated her. She was always trying to get close to him, and he hated it. He didn't want to be with her, and she never seemed to understand that.

"But...you just got pun-" She was cut off b Gerard's sharp voice.

"I said Im fine! Just fuck off will ya." He spat out the words before standing up, leaving 'Lyn-Z' on the floor, and took a pass from the teachers desk to go to the nurse.

Frank walked slowly, trying to remember the directions he had been given.
'...Out the door, turn left, go up corridoor 7, down one flight of stairs, past classroom 5D...'
He attempted to make sense of the words, but they all became mixed up in his head.
Withouth warning, a taller, older boy bumped into him, not looking where he was going. The impact send Frank flying to the floor. That was it. Frank began to cry, pulling his knees up to chest as he tucked his head into his arms.

"Damnit, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, I really didn't see you there. I'm sorry, you ok kid?" They other boy sat down next to Frank, trying to get him to stop crying.

Frank sniffled a bit before looking up, his eyes red and puffy from the tears.
"This isn't why I'm crying. I'm crying because I don't fit in anywhere. Everyone hates me and makes fun of me." Frank began to cry again.

"Oh...well, if it helps, I'm exactly the same. No one likes me either. I'm always getting beaten up." The other boy hesitated, before gently cupping Frank's chin and lifting his head.
Frank let out a painful squeal as the skin of the boy touched his wound.
"Oh gosh, sorry, I didn't know you had that...sorry.
Frank nodded his head, as if to say that it was ok.

"I'm guessing you're going to the nurses office?" The boy questioned. Frank nodded his reply. "Heh, you don't talk much huh? Well, I'm Gerard. And you are?"

"Frank Anthony Thomas Iero Jr." Frank announced proudly.
Gerard laughed a little, standing up and offering a hand to Frank. He reached up and gripped the hand, pulling himself up.

"Well, in that case then, my full name is Gerard Arthur Way." He smiled "I'm going to the nurse too. Some fuc- um, I mean, idiot punched me in the eye." Gerard pointed to his eye as Frank looked at him with a worried expression.

The two walked along the corridoors, Frank more following Gerard, talking. This was the first time anyone had been nice to Frank, and he felt a little weird about it.
Soon, the two of them were being treated by the nurse, and on their way to break, as the bell had rung while they were in the nurses office.

"Gerard..." Frank hesitantly said the older male's name.

"Yeah?" Gerard replied to the young boy who had been following him.

"Can I...can I be your friend? Please?" Frank became shy all of a sudden, and tried to turn his head away, so that Gerard wouldn't see him blushing. "I...I don't have any..."

A small, gentle smile pulled at the sides of Gerard's mouth as he put his arm around Frank's shoulder, pulling him closer.
"Sure ya can, Frankie." As soon asFrank heard the name Gerard had called him, he turned and hugged him lightly. Gerard could only smile more.

"Haha, we got a gay-fest goin' on here." Came the rugged voice of the boy who had punched Gerard. "Want me to even up those eyes Gee-tard? I can punch the other one aswell." His eyes locked onto the smaller form that was Frank. "Or maybe I could do it to your little friend there."

He pointed his muddy finger at Frank. Gerard stood up, feeling angry now.

"Leave him alone, Jonnie. If you want him, come through me first." Gerard's defiant words echoed over to where Jonnie and his 'gang' stood.
At the sound of Gerard talking back, he ran forwards and hooked him right in the side. Gerard fell to the ground, somewhat winded. Jonnie took this opportunity to kick him, and so he did. Gerard's cries of pain soon faded out as he became more and more winded. Frank felt terrible, Gerard was putting himself at risk, all for him.

"Dead-boy. Dead-boy. Dead-boy." With each kick, Jonnie called out one of the names that were used on Gerard. Finally he got bored, and signalled fot the 'gang' to back off and retreat. Frank ran to where the huddled body of Gerard lay, crouching down beside him.

"Gerard...are you...are you alive?" Frank fought back tears as he watched the motionless body.
He remembered a little thing his mom used to do, and that was to kiss the wounds better. So, Frank knelt forward and kissed Gerard lightly on the head, a desperate attempt to make him say something. Then he remembered the old fairytales he used to watch. He nodded and leant down, planting a light, gentle kiss on Gerard's lips. He backed up a bit after and watched as Gerard blinked his eyes open.

"Frankie...what the hell are you doing?" He mumbled softly, still winded slightly.

"I thought it would make you wake up. I didn't want you to die..." Frank leaned down close to Gerard's face, tears clear in his eyes, yet still being held back. Gerard smiled and managaed to pull himself up to a sitting position on the ground.

"Thanks Frankie." He whispered into the younger male's ear. Gerard slowly moved his lips away from Frank's ear, and around to his lips, where he gently pressed them against Frank's. Frank stiffened, but didn't back off or push Gerard away. He soon relaxed and pushed back into the kiss. Gerard pulled away, smiling at Frank.
It took Frank a moment to take in what had just happened, but he quickly felt a grin becoming evident on his face. Gerard laughed at his grin, and pulled him down into a hug.

"I think you can be more than my friend, Frankie. You can be my best friend." Gerard said softly to Frank, hugging him.
Head > Keyboard > Computer > dA > You.
How this story came about. Hope you enjoy.
It's not much of a Frerard, but I think it's sweet and deserves to come under that anyways.
